Welcome to
Hyp2008 -- the twelfth international conference devoted to theory, numerics and
applications of hyperbolic problems. The objective of the conference is to bring together scientists with interests in the theoretical, applied, and computational aspects of hyperbolic partial differential equations and related mathematical models found in diverse fields. As has
been done in the past, a special effort will be made to enable
young scientists to attend and to promote their interaction with the more senior
researchers.

News / Announcements
A list of conference participants is posted
The titles and abstracts of Plenary and Invited presentations are available
The main auditorium is full, therefore Hyp2008 registration for new participants is closed.
Existing participants may still log in, make changes, and pay for conference and banquet fees.
Conference participants may see their assigned session day & time (log in to view)
Hyp2008 will cover a
wide variety of the theory, numerics and applications of hyperbolic as well
as other time-dependent problems. Its scope will highlight several main themes:
Singular limits (zero-viscosity, relaxation, incompressible limit,
semi-classical limits)
Nonlinear wave patterns in multi-dimensions
Particle/molecular dynamics (kinetic methods, magneto-hydrodynamics)
Theory and numerics of multiphases and interfaces (boundary layers, phase
boundaries, multiphase wave propagation)
Transport in complex environments (homogenization, semi-classical limits,
scattering in random media, porous media, biological applications, network
and traffic flows)
Model reduction - coupling and decompositions (passage from microscopic to
macroscopic, numerical issues in transitional regimes, decomposition of fast
and slow dynamics, coupling of Lagrangian-Eulerian descriptions).
We look forward to hosting you at the University of Maryland in June 2008.

History This series of international conferences on Hyperbolic Problems was initiated
by C. Carasso, P.-A. Raviart, and D. Serre with the first conference held
in St-Etienne,
France in 1986. Since then it has been organized on a biannual basis in Aachen, Germany
(1988), Uppsala,
Sweden (1990), Taormina,
Italy (1992), Stony
Brook, USA (1994), Hong
Kong (1996), Zürich,
Switzerland (1998), Magdeburg, Germany (2000), Pasadena, USA (2002), Osaka, Japan
(2004) and Lyon, France
(2006).
